This Night Out event benefits kids and parents Sometimes a night out can end up supporting local children's charities -- at least that's what the organizers of a fundraising event tonight (Thursday) are hopeful of. A Night Out at The King's Arms pub, 323 Church St., will be benefitting Kerr Street Mission (KSM) and Oakville Parent Child Centre (OPCC). "A Night Out is a party, another night at the pub, a great way to catch up with everyone as we close out February. "But it's really very important in another way -- truly helping children and families in our community who because of varying circumstances require support," said Alix Scott, co-chair for the third annual event. Proceeds to KSM program All proceeds from the event will go towards KSM's free, drop-in Kids & Me Play Group for newborns to participants aged six years. Funded in part by OPCC, the program acts as preschool for many children in the KSM community. Also helping OPCC in high-needs areas The donation will also support other similar weekly playgroups operated by OPCC in "high-needs" communities in Oakville. The remaining funds will be donated to KSM youth development and children's programs, such as its after school homework club and program, as well as its dropin program for local youths.
