Brown rink heads to Saskatchewan for worlds in March (nationals)." Brown's rink rendered the discussion meaningless with the victory over Roth. With the final tied 3-3, Brown scored two in the seventh end and took control by stealing another in the eighth. Roth got one back in the ninth and was sitting two in the tenth but Brown had a draw for the win. After playing a near-perfect game in the page playoff (curling 95 per cent; Brown at 99 per cent), the veterans made a rare miscue. "I had an easy shot and we just overswept it," Brown said. "I think we were a little nervous and we didn't communicate and it went an inch too far." The rink quickly regrouped continued from p. 22 with Brown "giving them my Gipper speech" before the 11th end. Brown's rink quickly got the advantage in a crowded house and laying two, the skip didn't even need to throw her final rock. The rink now heads to the world championships March 19-27 in Swift Current, Sask. having answered many of the questions they had at the start of the season, and perhaps with the thoughts of retirement starting to fade. "I think we were all curious. We all wanted to see how good we could be," Brown said. Sheridan, 13-5, extended its winning streak to eight as it clinched third place in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's West Division by beating the Niagara Knights 2826, 25-20, 25-14 Tuesday. With the victory, Sheridan climbed to No. 7 in the national rankings, sitting just behind Niagara, which maintained its hold on the No. 6 spot. The Bruins' win sets up a meeting with George Brown (8-11) on Saturday at the Trafalgar Road campus at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to the OCAA championship at Seneca College Feb. 25-27. "We're not taking this game lightly. Every team that makes the playoffs has a record of 0-0," said Sheridan coach Frank Pento. "We've been on a nice hot streak and hopefully we can push that right through the playoffs." Fittingly, it was two of the OCAA's all-time leading scorers that led the Bruins in their final regular-season match with Sheridan. Jeremy Fantin had 13 points and Josh Butler was also in double figures with 10. Butler, the Bruins' all-time leading scorer, became just the third player in OCAA history to break the 1,100-point mark, finishing with 1,104. Fantin finished fourth on the all-time list with 1,075 points. The Bruins used a strong service game, and, has been the case during their winning streak, a stingy defence to beat Niagara for the second time this season. "We had a bit of an injured lineup, but we were still able to pull off a win," Pento said. "I'm very happy with the guys, they rose to the occasion. We adjusted really well in-game to things we needed to change up, so it was just a good, solid team win tonight." Sheridan sat at 3-4 midway through October before winning 10 of its final 11 matches, all but one of those victories coming in three sets. 2016 SPRING BREAK HOCKEY CAMPS MARCH 14-18 SPEND THE BREAK WITH THE TOP HOCKEY CAMP IN OAKVILLE REGISTER NOW!
