Blair, Donna Louise (née Shaw) (Died)

BLAIR, Donna Louise (nee Shaw) - Mom passed away December 10th, 2015 at the age of 91. She was born and raised in Walkerville Ontario and moved to Woodstock with her husband, the late Bertrand J. Blair (2011), shortly after WWII. She was the loved mother of Mary Roy of Toronto, Jane (Bill) Paquette of Woodstock and Dorothy (John) Fontaine of Virginia. She is survived by her grandchildren David (Hande) and Michael Roy, Jason (Jennifer) and Daniel (Katharine) Paquette and Ian Fontaine, as well as seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jessica Roy. Mom had a wicked sense of humour and loved a good book, play or movie. She was a first rate hostess and enjoyed entertaining her friends and neighbours. She had a curious mind and returned to finish her high school education while her two eldest daughters were in the same school. Her wide range of interests made her a worthy opponent in a Trivial Pursuit game. She tackled the costuming of two very large theatre productions, Oklahoma and Carousel , turning the family dining room into her version of a garment district. She also volunteered her time sewing for the Children's Aid Society. Her happiest days were spent at Long Point Beach where she and Dad lived for several years. She never tired of watching the lake, taking a daily stroll in the sand and Monday movie night with friends. Many very crowded and very noisy family Christmases were spent there. Mom dreaded ever having to attend funerals and made the request that she not be put through one. We are honouring her request, but ask that you remember her with a smile when you listen to big band music, watch an old movie, enjoy a local theatre production, sip a good scotch or sit down to a hearty meatloaf dinner.
