Their combined nomination was recently announced along with 11 other finalists by the Ontario Community Newspapers Association, of which the Oakville Beaver is a member, and which organizes the annual awards where youths are nominated by people in their community. Every nominee receives a certificate of recognition from his or her local, weekly community newspaper. The finalists and their families will attend a special ceremony March 7 in Toronto to be officiated by Ontario Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell. Vishal and Ishan, who were nominated by their mother, Ameeta Vijay, are the founders of EveryChildNow (formerly, Children In Action ­ C.I.A) -- a local group that advocates for children's rights around the world.
