Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" Edition Since PT Cruiser was first intro duced in the spring of 2000 as an early 2001 model, aftermarket wood panel ing applications quickly surfaced throughout North America. For the Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" Edition, Chrysler designers reached back to the brand's strong wood-body car heritage which was established in 1941 through 1950 with the classic Chrysler Town & Country series. Later, in 1968, Chrysler introduced simulated wood-panel design applica tions on its station wagons, and most recently on its best-selling Chrysler and Dodge mini vans in the 1980s and Jeep Grand Cherokee in the early 1990s. "For the Chrysler PT Cruiser 'Woodie' Edition, we wanted a design execution that recreated the carefree fun of the popular 1960s California surf wagons", Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Design, Chrysler Group said. "We wanted a clean, elegant exe cution that flowed with the lines of the car as well as a professional, factorylevel look currently not available in the aftermarket". A simple, flowing wood-grained graphic appears on all four doors, the quarter panels and liftgate. The graphic is a linear Medium Oak woodgrain framed with Light Ash surround mold ings. Unlike aftermarket wood accent applications, this vehicle will have a full factory warranty. The Chrysler PT Cruiser "Woodie" option will be avail able on all Chrysler PT Cruiser models including base, Touring and Limited Edition. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for this option in Canada is $1,325. 2002 C h rys le r P T C ru ise r "W oodie" Edition Flame Decor Option As a new factory option, customers can also order their 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser with subtle tone-on-tone "flames" rippling over the hood and front fenders. The coordinating "flames" will be available in a choice of four exterior colours. The vinyl flames are applied after vehicles exit the paint shop at Chrysler's Toluca Assembly Plant in Toluca, Mexico. The colour choices are: fading orange-to-red flames are available for Infemo Red Tinted Pearl Coat PT Cruisers; fading blue to cran berry flames go with Deep Cranberry Pearl Coat vehicles; dark silver fades in to bright silver for Bright Silver Metallic vehicles; and Black PT Cruisers offer fading deep magenta to black flames highlighted with a blue border. The new option will be available on all 2002 Chrysler PT Cruisers in Black,Bright silver Metallic, Infemo Red Tinted Pearl Coat and Deep Cranberry Tinted Pearl Coat. This option will have a manufacturer's retail price in Canada of $395. Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1 Introduced just in time for Detroit's celebrated "Woodward Dream Cruise", the 2002 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser Series 1 is a Limited Edition model that will be available at Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealerships in Canada during the first quarter of 2002. This edition is the first in a series of factory-cus tomized Dream Cruisers to be intro duced on an annual basis. Production will begin January 7, 2002. Only 7,500 will be built for North America with a manufacturer's suggest ed retail price in Canada of $29,320 for the manual transaxle version and $30,350 for the automatic transaxle (destination of $810 is not included). The 2002 Chrysler PT Dream Cruiser will be painted Inca Gold, an evolution of the colour first shown on the Chrysler Pronto Cruizer concept car revealed at the 1998 Salon de l'Automobile in Geneva, Switzerland. This colour, exclusive to this series of PT Cruisers, is a chrome-yellow gold with a metallic sparkle. In addition to Inca Gold paint, the vehicle will feature a "Dream Cruiser Series 1" chrome badge on the liftgate. The car will also include 16-inch MOPAR chrome wheels with customized gold centre caps and bright PT Cruiser graphics. "Visually, the Inca Gold monochro matic appearance unifies the Chrysler PT Cruiser's dramatic form", Creed said. "With its unique colour-keyed grille, bumpers and body side mold ings, the vehicle takes on more of a cus tomized look". Inside, a special plaque will be inte grated into the instrument panel that reads: "Dream Cruiser, Series 1". The plaque also marks the number of the vehicle, 1-7,500, to indicate the sequence in which it was built as part of the limited edition Dream Cruiser pro duction run. In addition, "Dream Cruiser" will be embroidered into the floor mats with matching Inca Gold thread. The same m atching coloured inserts appear throughout the interior -- on the instru ment panel, including the passengerside airbag door and instrument clusterbezel. Door bolsters are a matching gold grain vinyl. Seats are Dark Taupe and Light Pearl Beige with Inca Gold half-moon leather inserts. A unique textured leather called Matrix Leather is used in the seat cush ion, seat back inserts, steering wheel and shift knob on automatic transmis sions. DairftlerChrysler has sold more than 220,000 Chrysler PT Cruisers worldwide since the vehicle first went on sale in April, 2000. To help meet increased demand for PT Cruiser, Chrysler recently announced its second production increase. By the fall of 2002 Chrysler will have the capacity to build PT Cruisers at a rate of 310,000 vehicles per year, up from the current capacity of 180,000 vehicles per year.
