The Professional Division o f the Oakville School o f Dancing continues to nurture talented future classical ballet dancers in their for mative years. Beginning at the age o f 10 and culm inating upon high school graduation, a unique after school program creates tom orrow 's talented artists. Working with Artistic Director Amanda Anderson, a highly qualified staff o f energetic, dedicated mentors pro vide a solid foundation for boys and girls in classical B allet, Pointew ork, Pas de D eux, M odern, jazz, Character, Spanish Dance and Pilates Body Conditioning. These young dancers prepare over several years of training to join the ranks o f professional ballet schools and companies worldwide. Seventeen-year-old Mary Podgorski was one o f 30 stu dents from across Canada and the United States to be cho sen to dance at Kaatsbaan, New York, a summer program with new York City Ballet's former principal dancer Martine van Hamel. Mary returns to the Professional Division o f The Oakville School o f Dancing for her graduate year with the hopes o f joining a ballet company in the near future. Two other students, Jaclyn Smith and Tara Thomson, were offered scholarships to the W alnut Hill School in M assachusetts for post graduate training in classical bal let. Both Tara and Jaclyn attended American Ballet Theatre's Summer School in Austen, Texas this summer. They were the only two Canadians accepted. If you dream o f one day becoming a dancer, make your dream become a reality and audition for the School's Professional Division. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. for ages 10-13 and at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. for ages 14-18. Interviews for prospective young dancers will follow the auditions.
