"Haldimand Deed a valid document"

The Mohawk people of the Grand River will not participate in any agreement concerning hunting rights or political rights made with or on behalf of the Six Nations elected band council.

For we feel that by participating with band council, the provincial and federal governments or Canada would also view Mohawks of the Grand River as Indians under the meaning of the Indian Act.

Mohawks of the Grand River have never accepted any part of the Indian Act, and never intend to.

Mohawks of the Grand River still have in their possession the original ownership for Grand River territories, the Haldimand Deed, and will always remain steadfast in our belief that this ownership is a very valid, registered document. It gives the Mohawks and other members of the Six Nations "unconditional ownership" to Grand River territory.

And if there is ever to be true justice in this great country, this ownership will have to be dealt with as such.
