Meals on Wheels rolls with Mo's Family Restaurant by Julia Le Oakville Beaver Staff 5 | Thursday, December 31, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com The Oakville Kiwanis Meals on Wheels, which delivers a hot lunch to local seniors, is moving forward with a new partner. The local service club is now teamed up with Mo's Family Restaurant. The new joint, which began Dec. 1, picked up as the club ended a partnership with Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) after it moved locations from Reynolds Street to the corner of Third Line and Dundas Street on Dec. 13. Since 1976, Meals on Wheels and OTMH have been working together to provide nutritious meals to Oakville residents in need of assistance. Meals on Wheels explained, with the hospital's move, accessibility would become a challenge. The issue prompted an extensive search for an alternative food provider. Meals on Wheels chose Mo's Family Restaurant on Speers Road and a new menu for the organization's clientele was created. Restaurant owner Moe Thiyagarajah and his son Jay Thiyagarajah said they We have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship with our hospital partners, but are excited to be providing our clients with brand new menu options and a variety of dishes. This has been a major change in our historic operation as we head into our 40th anniversary year; we look forward to working with Moe and Jay through 2016. They have a great reputation for serving delicious food and lots of it. They are no strangers to giving back, having hosted a Thanksgiving dinner over the last several years, free of charge, so those without families members can enjoy the celebration and a great turkey dinner with others at his restaurant. Donations collected have also been given to Kerr Street Mission. Mo's menu provides hearty fare with fresh-cooked vegetables, salads and homemade soups.
