The snapshot was taken by Marcel Painchaud, who also walked away with the $1,000 prize for his photo titled Foggy Morning on 16 Mile. "Foggy Morning on 16 Mile deserves this year's grand prize," said Oakville Camera club president Bill Smith. "Photographs of Oakville Harbour are plentiful almost to the point we don't want to see them. Marcel's Foggy Morning on 16 Mile captures a mood with the early morning mist on the creek that got our judges attention." The annual photography contest is put on by the Oakville Camera Club, open to Ontario residents of all photography skills since 2007. Town of Oakville makes Top 10 list for its 2015 Culture Days celebrations The Town of Oakville has been recognized for its 2015 Culture Days celebrations. Held on Sept. 26, the activities were among the best Culture Days events in Canada, according to the annual Top Ten Cities and Towns list, which was recently released by the Culture Days non-profit organization. "On behalf of council, I'd like to congratulate everyone involved in organizing such a successful and widely-recognized event," Mayor Rob Burton said in a media release. "Oakville Culture Days is a great opportunity for residents to immerse themselves and learn more about our vibrant arts and culture community." Oakville ranked third within the group with populations of 50,000-499,999. Richmond. B.C., took the top spot, followed by London, Ont., in second. Rankings were based on the number of activities held in each community. Oakville's Culture Days at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) featured 62 activities, such as theatre performances, ceramic and woodshop workshops, and exhibitions.
