www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Friday, December 4, 2015 | 22 Get into the holiday spirit with Oakville Public Library T his month, Oakville Public Library is offering holiday-themed activities for families with young children. Next week (from Dec. 7-11), free Holiday Family Storytimes will be held at branches across the system. These larger-than-life holiday storytimes run for 30 minutes each and involve music, rhyming and dancing along to a seasonal tale. On Monday, Dec. 14, the library will also be hosting a free Christmas Storytime for families at South Oakville Mall (10-11 a.m.). No registration is required as these programs are free and run on a drop-in basis. Additional literacy-enriching, seasonal programs like Jingle Babies and Mrs. Claus' Kitchen are being offered until Dec. 15, at various times and branch locations. At Jingle Babies (newborn to 12 months), parents and caregivers will celebrate seasonal firsts with their little ones through stories, singalongs and festive crafting. Mrs. Claus' Kitchen (ages three to five) features sweet-and-tasty-themed activities that are perfect for curious preschoolers: Rice Krispie treat making, edible Christmas tree creation and candy cane fishing. Pre-registration is required for Mrs. Claus' Kitchen and Jingle Babies, both of which cost $7. In addition to the festive fun, the library has also put together a Holiday Sharing Guide for families looking to give back to their community or receive help throughout the holiday season. The guide can be accessed from the main page of the library's website and is divided into three helpful sections: Volunteer Opportunities; Get Help; and Give Help. A number of free community dinners and toy drives are featured. For more information on library programs and services, consult the Fall/Winter 2015-16 Program and Events Guide, visit www.opl.ca or speak with a staff member.
