Emergency services, including the Halton Regional Police Marine Unit, Oakville Fire Department and Halton Region Paramedic Services, were called to the park just before 11 a.m. A woman walking her dog heard noises coming from that area of the lake, spotted a male along the rocky shoreline of the lake and called 911. The rescuers made their way out over the rock jetty and partially waded into the water to pull the man to shore and used a rescue stokes basket to carry him up a embankment to a waiting ambulance. He was transported to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with possible hypothermia. He was later reported to be in stable condition. A Halton police marine unit officer on scene estimated the water temperature to be around 40 F (5 C) this time of year and that hypothermia can set in in less than 20 minutes.
