It recognizes Trafalgar Township veterans, who served during the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War. It features the names of almost 700 men and women who served their country. Gathered at a civilian Remembrance Day service yesterday, pictured, from left, are: Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll, Oakville North-Burlington MP-elect Pam Damoff and Roberta Currell and her husband, Ron Currell. Just after the civilian Remembrance Day service at Trafalgar Memorial yesterday, the long- time Oakville resident told the Oakville Beaver there isn't a day that goes by that her eyes aren't drawn to Memorial Park in the Oak Park community on her way home from work. "My eyes turn to here and I automatically think of my father who passed away five years ago," said the 64-year-old, whose dad, John Stewart, was a Korean War veteran who served in the Ordnance Corps. Remembrance Day, she said, is an emotional time for her and her husband, Ron Currell. Both had relatives who fought in the wars. The Currells, who met as members of The Lorne Scots in Oakville, were among nearly 300 people gathered at Trafalgar Memorial Nov. 11 to pause, reflect and honour the thou- sands of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents and great-grandparents, who sacrificed their lives and to the families that suffered their loss.
