It was makeover night during the winter session of the Recreation and Parks Department's Girls Night Out program and Sydney Ranson took the opportunity to try out some nail polish. The spring session of Girls Night Out, for ages 11-14, begins on April 20, with two locations, the Acton Community Centre or the Gellert Community Centre. Activities are chosen by the girls and may include hip hop dance, self-defence, yoga, jewelry making, makeovers, movie night, etc. Each night opens with "hot topic" discussion (nutrition, body image etc.) The program is co-ordinated by college/university or seniors high school leaders. For registration details go to www.haltonhills.ca or call the Recreation Hotline, 905-873-2601, ext. 2275.
