The Town of Halton Hills Recreation & Parks Department has formed a new dance partnership with Ronda Copeland School of Dance. "I am so excited to be partnering with the Town of Halton Hills," said Copeland. "I am looking forward to sharing my love of dance with students of all ages!" Copeland trained in many dance disciplines from the age of three and at 16 became a member of the Canadian Dance Masters of America and an Associate of the British Association of Teachers of Dancing. She has enjoyed a varied dance career from classical to cheerleading and brings over 18 years of dance teaching experience in the recreation and parks field to the partnership. In 1998, Copeland opened her own dance school. The new partnership builds on the popular dance programs that have been offered since the spring of 2004. New classes have been added to spark renewed interest and up the fun factor of moving to the music. "As residents have come to expect from Recreation & Parks, the new dance programs are still at an introductory level for beginner and non-competitive participants who want to have fun while being active. They provide an opportunity to discover the joys of dance without any prerequisites, long-term commitments, or costumes to buy," said Aaron Matthews, Recreation Supervisor, in charge of active living programs. Under the new partnership, preschool and children dance classes will now be offered in Acton as well as Georgetown, for added convenience and choice. New dance programs on offer include Jumpin' & Jammin', a great opportunity for adult and children to learn and play together, and Power Squad, a unique chance to learn cheerleading moves from this former CFL and NFL cheerleader. Adult fitness classes with a dance twist are also available. Dance Fit fans will enjoy Copeland's versions of Jazz & Funk and Hip Hop Fit. For more information on all the recreational dance programs being offered this spring and summer, visit the Town of Halton Hills website at www.haltonhills.ca or call the Program Hotline at 905-873-2601, ext. 2275.
