Rehearsals are in full swing for Globe Musical Production's next show You'll Get Used to It!...The War Show which will be presented at St. Paul's Parish Hall in Norval on Feb. 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, and 10. The show will mix humour with a little slapstick and feature songs of 60 years ago like The White Cliffs of Dover, I'll Be Seeing You and This is the Army Mr. Jones. It follows the adventures of a group of Canadian soldiers as they go overseas, first to England where they train for the battles to come, and at the same time enjoy the pubs, the dances and most of all, the girls. They spend their leaves in London, in spite of the Blitz, some of them seeing a big city for the first time in their lives. Before long they are on their way to Italy, before taking part in the D-Day landings in Normandy. Throughout, the men keep their sense of humour, reflected in the songs they love to sing and they keep their spirits up when the going gets rough. The show will appeal to those who want to hear The Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B sung the way the Andrews Sisters performed it, or what the troops really thought about Hitler in You'll Get Used to It. Tickets are on sale now at John Elliott Theatre box office, 905-877-3700. Cost is $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and children. The ticket price includes coffee and goodies at the end of each performance.
