Nomination Day at the Clerk's Department, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To date, 15 candidates have filed for a job on the 11member town council, with races in only two of the 11 positions. However acclamations for the other nine positions-- including mayor-- are unlikely to remain as some candidates are expected to file late in the day on Friday. So far, races will be held in Wards 3 and 4 for the four local councillors' jobs. Contesting the local Ward 3 seats (2) are incumbent Moya Johnson and newcomers David W. Adair, Dave Kentner and Phil McBride. Incumbent Mike Davis has yet to indicate his intention to run. Contesting the local Ward 4 seats (2) are incumbent Bob Inglis and newcomers Kevin Duggan, John Duncan and Drew Riedstra. Longtime Ward 4 councillor Ron Chatten announced his retirement earlier this year. Three people will fight for the Halton Region chair's job to be vacated by Joyce Savoline-- Brian Burton, Gary Carr, and Robert Plaschka. Vying for a Wards 3 and 4 trustee position on the Halton District School Board are Gillian Tuck-Kutarna and Mike Parkhill. Sean Haefner has put his name in for the Wards 1 and 2 trustee position. Incumbent Irene McCauley is the only one to date to file as a candidate for the Halton Catholic District School Board. There are no registered candidates for French language public school board, Conseil Scolaire Public du Centre Sud Quest and one for the French language Catholic board, Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre Sud-- Marie Gaudet of Mississauga. Residents can get their name on the voters' list by filing an application with the Clerk's Department or at the voting place at the time they vote.
