Grade 12 student Rachel Wielinga (left) and youth leader Lindsey Gallant are two members of the team of 21 heading down to Illinois.

A group of 21 students and adults from Georgetown Christian Fellowship Church will be participating in a week long service mission experience to help the residents of Mount Pulaski, Illinois. This week, July 9-15, these 12 high school students and nine adults will join with hundreds of others from churches and communities all across North America to participate in the Service Expedition Camp, sponsored by the Group Workcamps Foundation of Loveland, Colorado (www.groupworkcamps.com). During their week in Mount Pulaski, approximately 400 students and adults will provide more than 12,000 hours of free labor to the community, time that is worth more than $75,000. The focus of the camps is to grow the students' faith through meaningful service to others, and the recipients are typically elderly, disabled, or victims of financial or social hardship. The work they do will include tasks such as interior and exterior painting, fixing porches and steps, building wheelchair ramps, and other basic home repairs. Through their service, these students aim to gain a life changing understanding about the true meaning of serving others and growing in their Christian faith, stated Kevin McKee of Georgetown Christian Fellowship.
