A couple of Georgetown Impact club teams settled for fifth place in their respective age groups at the recent Ontario Volleyball Association championship tournaments. Georgetown's under-14 Impact Black was among 16 teams in the Tier I championships held at the University of Toronto's Scarborough campus and they finished where they were seeded throughout the season, in fifth spot. The under-16 Impact competed at the under-17 Ontario Volleyball Association tourney in Kitchener and played well in the early stages, finishing second in their pool, behind the eventual-champion Ottawa Kangaroos, who defeated Georgetown 25-20, 26-24 in their preliminary-round matchup. Georgetown's under-16s lost to Brantford in the second round of playoffs, then beat Burlington and the Ottawa Mavericks to earn fifth place out of the 12 teams. The under-16 Impact will also play in the under-16 OVA championships April 22-23 in Newmarket. As a tune-up for the provincials, the under-14 Impact Black traveled to Dearborn, Michigan last month for the Motor City Madness tournament and reeled off several match wins to claim the championship.
