Atom Raiders edged

Patrick Gough of the Georgetown McMaster's Meat & Deli Raiders battles a couple of Uxbridge players for the puck during the fifth-and-deciding game of their Ontario Minor Hockey Association atom AA championship series Friday. Although the Raiders outplayed and outchanced the visitors, Uxbridge scored late in the first overtime period to win the OMHA title 3-2. Georgetown opened the scoring early in the first period in front of about 400 spectators at Mold-Masters SportsPlex, but Uxbridge struck back with two quick goals in the middle frame. Ben Nicolucci's third-period marker for Georgetown sent the thrilling contest into extra time and the Raiders had glorious opportunities to win it, including a penalty shot, but the clinching goal for Uxbridge came after a goal-mouth scramble just before a second overtime would have been required. Uxbridge will now play in Timmins next week at the OHF's Tournament of Champions.
