A Georgetown woman will be snowmobiling for a good cause next month when she takes part in the Seventh Annual Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Snow Run. Kelly Clarke, a long-time friend of Shires, a Port McNichol (Ontario) woman who died in 2004 of breast cancer at the age of 42, will join other women on their snowmobiles in Huntsville February 4 at Deerhust Resort to raise money for women to assist them in their fight against breast cancer. Money raised goes to the snow run's charitable trust, which provides funding for women to help make their fight with breast cancer less challenging. The money goes to pay for medication, wigs and whatever the women may need because many of them have to stop working while being treated. Hundreds of women across Canada have been helped through the trust over the last five years. Anyone interested in sponsoring Clarke, or providing a prize for the silent auction is asked to call her at 905-873-7802. Pink ribbons in support of the snow run are available at Bos Interiors in Georgetown.
