Halton Region officials will explain how non-profit, charitable or community organizations can get access grants doled out by the Halton Region Community Investment Fund (HRCIF). The information sessions will take place Oct. 29 at the Black Box Studio Theatre in Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, 2302 Bridge Road in Oakville, from 6-8 p.m.; and Nov. 3 at Kinsmen Hall A in the Gellert Community Centre, 10241 Eighth Line in Halton Hills from 10 a.m.-noon. The HRCIF provides funding to non-profit organizations that deliver community health or social service programs to Halton residents. Two categories of funding are available to organizations that meet eligibility criteria. Category One provides up to $20,000 for one year to non-profit, charitable or community organizations for short-term, small capital and/or innovative projects. The deadline for Category One applications is Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. Category Two provides up to three years of program funding for charitable organizations. The deadline for Category Two applications is Dec. 4 at 2 p.m. During this proposal call, there is approximately $200,000 available for funding commitments in each of 2016, 2017 and 2018. "The non-profit sector and community volunteers provide tremendous support to individuals and families in Halton," stated Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr in a press release.
