Located at 263 Kerr St., the centre was the first of its kind in the area when it opened its doors in 1974. Since that time, four additional seniors centres have opened in Oakville, offering a wide variety of programs and services for residents age 50 and above. Sunday's open house celebration will run from 2-4 p.m. "We're very excited to celebrate all the fun and fellowship experienced at the Oakville Seniors Centre over the past four decades," said Nina de Vaal, Town of Oakville director of Recreation and Culture. "All are welcome to join us as we mark this historic occasion and share some exciting plans for the future."
