7 SIX NATIONS SPORTS Girls Basketball On Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5th at 3 o'clock the Six Nations girls basketball team started into the first quarter w~ th the Tuscarora girls basketball team from Lewiston, N.Y. The game was played in the gym at Ohsweken Central School. Six Nations gir l s won easily over the Lewiston team with a score of 30-4. Later everyone congregated at the home of Mrs. Herman Styres Jr. and feasted on a Kentucky fried chicken supper. he event was enjoyed by all. Anderson at Greenwood R~~e_I~aY. ( from Spectator Feb. 11, 1969) Fred Hill, well- known harness racing driver and trainer, drove Art Anderson's Dale Anderson from Ohsweken to an easy 7 3/4 length win in the sixth race at Greenwood on Monday Feb. 10th. It was the fourth win in five life-time starts for the six year .old mare 7 who had not raced prior to Jan. 3rd when she won her first start. Mr. Anderso:ri. is one of the gJ owing list of horse enthusiasts of the Six Nations Reserve. He owns seven standard-bred horses at present, mostly colts. They won their first league game against Jarvis 6-4 last Saturday. Their next game is on Feb. 18 at 6:45 in Port Dover and if a third game i s necessary it will be played on Saturday Feb. 22nd. in Hagersville at 3:45 p,m, This is a best 2 out of 3 seri es. Joe Powless and Robert Martin played outstanciing hockey l ast Saturday along with Steve Porter, Rick Anderson. One of the Bantams playing Midget came up with one of his steady games as always. Generally speaking, all the boys played excellent hockey, maybe that is why they won. They could use more fans t hough. Remember, the fel l ows are now in the play- offs with outside teams. Jarvis Ousted Six Nations trounced Jarvis 10-0 in an Ontario Minor Hockey Association bantam 11 E11 playoff game Tuesday night. Six Nations wins the best-of--three series in straight games and will play Smith- ville in the next round- Rich Anderson, Frank Davis a d Steve Isaacs got two goals apiece for the winners. Paul Henhawk, Terry General, Roger Johnathan and Stan Johnathan got a goal each. Marvin Powless posted the shutout. 50-50 Draw Postponed for Dne lfo3::k _ Illr. C;s,rril Fraser, coach of the Six Nations Bantam Hockey Club, announced that the 50- 50 draw of the club will be drawn on March 1st - a week later than scheduled. Since the last announcement, the Bantam team has received notice that they have been accepted to enter the Clinton Tournament on Feb. 22nd. Consequently they will not be on hand for the draw. It was necessary to postpone the draw a week later to March 1st. Sic)( Nations Minor HockeI Our hockey season is coming to an end, with the finish l ast Sunday Feb. 16 of our house league schedule. NoH we will start our house league playoffs, . these wil l consist of semi-finals wii;ha two game total goal series, and the finals a two out of three series. The All- Star teams are in the O.M.H.A. playdowns and therefore the house league games will be scheduled accordingly. We cannot hinder the All-Star teams by having their players participate in too many games on the same day.
