Reminder of the date reserved for Colborne United Church Christmas Tea, Saturday December 7th. There will be canvassers during October for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. A Swap and Sell Skate and Hockey Equipment Exchange will be held at the Youth Centre on Saturday, October 19th from 9:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. Coming up on the 27th is the 112th anniversary of Colborne United Church with two services. The Rev. Lindsay King, B.D., B.D.,S.T.M., of Willowdale United Church is the guest speaker. Special music by their own choir will be put on in the morning and a thirty voice choir from St.Pauls United, Bowmanville will be ' there in the 7:30 service. Mr. King is • giving great leadership in Pnewmatology -the study of the human spirit. In the evening he is dealing with this in particular with stress and tension brought out for your attention. Prospect Missionary Church is having an anniversary weekend and start on the 18th and keep going till the evening of the 20th. The celebration is called "Jesus is Lord". The theme speaker is Dr. Eric Sisel, theme singers, on Sunday only, the Sacred Song Quartet. Friday and Saturday services are at 8 p.m., Sunday services are 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. All are given a welcome to this church. Social & Personal Mrs. Ken Robinson is home after her eye operation and is supposed to be quiet for a few weeks. Alf Dove is in hospital and we hope he gets over his bout soon. Lum Kee and Ted Lee and party are off moose hunting. We hear you boys did well right off the bat and got three. We will look you up when you get home. Sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Percy Wannamaker on the death of their son in Toronto. Mr. W.J. Hastie will be the guest speaker at Colborne United Laity Sunday, Oct. 20. Mrs. Catherine Shaddick of Renfrew Scotland who is visiting her cousin Mrs. Dance had a drive to Minden and Gravenhurst last week. The Rev. Graham Kennedy, B.D., B.D. and Mrs. Kennedy accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds attended the service in St.Pauls Presbyterian church in Port: Hope to hear the Very Reverend J.D. Sangaya from Central Africa. Mrs. Ellen MacGregor also attended the service and had a nights stay in Port Hope with friends there. Tracey Caniff is now two weeks old -congratulations to the parents. Congratulations also go the the Terry Pettibones of Lakeport on the birth of a Lease renewed At a meeting last week, the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education renewed the lease on the property immediately East of. East s Northumberland Secondary School. The five acre parcel is owned by the Ministry of Agriculture, and used by the school as an athletic field. The property was first leased by the board in 1969 for the sum of $1.00 for a five year period. Terms of the lease renewal are the same. There are two services, 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The scheduled guest speaker is Reverend A.C. Keeler whose mother played the organ and taught Sunday School for years in the church. Mr. Keeler went to Sunday school and church at Eddystone. The music at both services will be done by the Eddystone choir. Rev. Ken Robinson went to Eddystone in 1960 and has done a tremendous work in this church. He is so well liked by the young and old alike. This church is noted for its good cooks. Six applications for land severance were submitted by the Northumberland Land Division Committee. Council reviewed the applications and the Clerk was directed to approve on behalf of Council subject to certain recommendations. On motion of Rusk and Hanen, accounts . in the amount of general: $9,121.95, roads: $12,875.52 were approved for payment. On motion of Mr. McComb, Council adjourned at 5 P.M. to meet in Castleton on Friday November 1 at 1:30 P.M. or at the call of the Reeve.
