Fidgeting all the way to a longer life and better health That's Harvest S Life o, it's come to this. We have become a society so sedentary -- so caught up on the couch, so stapled to the sofa, so chained to our chairs, so tethered to our televisions, smart phones and computers -- doctors are now recommending that we do what our elders were always admonishing us not to do: dget. That's right. Fidget. Back in my youth, I was a world-class dgeter. Brimming with restless energy, and with a propensity to bore easily, I dgeted with the best of them. And, like most people, I went from being a fan of dgeting to thinking that all that squirming could be at times inappropriate and rude, and almost always distracting. And while "further research is needed, the ndings raise questions about whether the negative associations with dgeting should persist if such simple movements are bene cial for our health." Bottom line: the researchers recommend we all dget. see Apps on p.23 October 4, 2015 · Noon - 4 p.m. Harrop Barn @ Country Heritage Park in Milton Get your tickets today at halton.ca/harvest.
