Saying goodbye to OTMH with a Garden Party Oakville residents will be showing their pride and walking down memory lane as they say goodbye to the Reynolds Street Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) tomorrow (Saturday) before its big move later this year. OTMH's Garden Party is hailed as a VIP-event with formal speeches from special guests at 1 p.m. Following that will be a community portion, during which residents are welcome to enjoy a number of celebration stations featuring OTMH gardens, historical artifacts, a children's area, caricature artists and a photo booth. Emma Murphy, Halton Healthcare Service's (HHS) senior communications consultant, said the event not only celebrates the hospital's 65year history at the 327 Reynolds St. location, but gives the community a chance to say goodbye to the fixture in the community as the hospital prepares to move to its new facility at Dundas Street and Third Line on Dec. 13. A memory book will also be released in November to document all the memorable moments the hospital building has had over the 65 years it has served the community. Oakville resident Lillian (Joy) Parsons, 92, was a nurse when OTMH opened its doors in 1950, and went on to become its executive director. "It's an emotional time, but certainly it's very satisfying to see that Oakville is progressive and continuing on with the wonderful hospital care that residents receive," said Parsons. 5 | Friday, September 25, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Lunch, Learn & Enjoy For our clients, their guests, and prospective clients Executive Director, Homewatch CareGivers Scott McNabb Speaking on A STEP BEYOND IN CARE Salima Kassam Reg.
