The orientation day, held Saturday locally at Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School, was meant to help the children understand the importance of school bus safety as well as ease any potential fears. The day included a video and handout to all young riders with tips on school bus safety. School bus safety of cers and drivers talked to the children and their parents about safely getting on and off the bus, proper behaviour on the school bus, crossing the street to get to a waiting bus and overall safety. The Making Ontario Roads Safer Act has been amended to include ve new rules, three of which came into effect Tuesday.
