The pair has been cultivating dill and milkweed year after year to attract eastern black swallowtail and monarch butter ies to lay their eggs. "Once laid, we have been taking care of the eggs and caterpillars in our home, ensuring that they are fed and are protected from predators," said Cadogan, noting his daughter goes out in the evenings to look through the plants for eggs the size of pinheads.
