www.insideHALTON.com | OAKVILLE BEAVER | Thursday, August 13, 2015 | 36 Volunteers sought to walk Hope in High Heels Men are being asked to literally walk in the shoes of women to gain a better understanding of what some women face should they need the services of Halton Women's Place, the local shelter. The sixth annual Hope In High Heels event has two activities in September, one each in Oakville and Burlington. For the last five years, boys and men across Halton have strapped on hot pink high heels for a short walk in women's shoes in a fundraiser that benefits the Halton Women's Place (HWP) shelter. This year the Oakville walk is on Sunday, Sept. 27 at Centennial Square, Lakeshore Road and Navy Street. Registration is at 10 a.m. with the walk at 11 a.m. The Burlington event will be held a day earlier, on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Emma's Back Porch, 2084 Old Lakeshore Rd. Registration is at 10 a.m. with the walk at 11 a.m. The cost to participate in either walk is $30 for adults and $10 for students. For more information or to register for one of the walks, email Carm Bozzo at cbozzo@ haltonwomensplace.com or call 905-3321200.
