Jewelry scam in vogue again Halton police are warning residents to beware of a jewelry distraction scam, which has made a re-appearance in Oakville. On Tuesday at about 10 a.m., a woman was walking along Sherwoood Heights Drive when a vehicle pulled up next to her and a female passenger engaged her in conversation, police said. The conversation ended with the passenger placing a gold chain around the victim's neck at which point the vehicle drove away. It was only a short time later that the victim noticed her own necklace, which she had been wearing had been removed, allegedly while interacting with the woman in the vehicle. The chain the woman was given turned out to be worthless, even though 18k was printed on it. Virtually identical thefts were reported in Oakville in 2012, however, it is unclear at this time whether these incidents are related. No descriptions of the woman or the vehicle are available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oakville Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2216 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). 17 | Thursday, August 13, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com Gear Music on Kerr St. WellSpring Pharma on Iroquois Shore Rd. 10%off All you can EAt Buffet (Lunch or Dinner Tues - Fri) staurant Sweets & Re at E n a C u o Y ll A n ia r a t e g e V % 100 ffEt u B a Weekday s o m Sa SpeCiaL LUNCH $1099 2 /$1 DiNNeR $1199 From 11am-3pm From 5pm-9pm 2345 Trafalgar Road · 905-257-0808 Follow us on JUNIOR (3YR - 11YR) $8.99 Kids (2YR & Under) $ Free We will pay up to 50% of your energy retrofit project costs.
