The lettering that is a nod to Gilgan's donation of $10 million denotes the name of the hospital's patient care tower. While throughout the construction, the new healthcare facility has been known only as "the new Oakville hospital," the recent addition of the lettering atop the tower raised a few questions this week with some wondering if the new hospital would be named after the Mattamy Homes founder and CEO. Gilgan made a $10 million donation in 2010 to help pay for the hospital's equipment. HHS announced at that time, that the inpatient tower in the new hospital would be designated the Peter Gilgan Patient Care Centre. The centre will be home to the hospital's medical and surgical inpatient units, which will offer a full-range of medical and post-surgical specialty care to the community.
