The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is in the process of reconstructing the Trafal gar Road overpass between Argus and Iro quois Shore roads. Work on the project began in mid-June and is scheduled to finish by the end of 2016. Between now and December, the MTO will focus reconstruction on the west side of the overpass, during which time the road will be reduced from six to four lanes. The work will cease in the winter (De cember to April 2016) with the road return ing to six lanes. From June 2016-December 2016 the same process will occur on the east side of the overpass with reconstruction reducing the road from six to four lanes until the project is completed. The MTO advises residents to expect some delays during the project. Ramp lanes to and from the highway will be maintained during the construction. Traffic signal timings will be adjusted from the QEW ramps to Trafalgar Road to help with the flow of traffic. The reconstruction will see the roadway' s overpass widened on both sides by 0.3 me tres to accommodate wider sidewalks for pedestrians. A new 0.45 metre buffer zone between the sidewalk and the road is intended to im prove pedestrian safety.
