- Fred Creech, pioneer in photography ; camera captured many early scenes ; now treasure museum pieces ; people, scenes, ships, buildings ; captured the Cora A schooner ; inventor, miller, railroader, farmer, carpenter ; built Cotswold type home in N.Y. ; made of hewn timber ; born Simcoe County, Ontario ; early in life became miller's apprentice ; went to Dauphin, Man. as miller ; left to study photography ; Illinois College of Photography ; came to Port Arthur in 1908 ; bought shop from Ben Rogers ; designed new device for washing negatives and prints ; patented in 1912 ; produced a humidifier ; patented in 1915 ; left for Toronto in 1920, founded Creech Humidifying Company ; later worked as CPR brakeman out of Fort William ; died in 1960 ; widow Francine Creech ; photo
