Oakville 847-5671 Kelsey's eyes U.S. expansion for Montana's division i Oakville-based Kelsey's International Inc. intends to expand its Montana's Cookhouse Saloon division into the United States, building as many as eight units over the next two years. What's attracting Kelsey's to the U.S. is the massive market and the fact that Americans have more disposable income than Canadians and they dine out more frequently, about once or twice a week on average. The Montana's concept is known for its steaks and large helpings, some thing that the company hopes will win favour with Americans. But one thing that will change with the U.S. invasion is the restaurant's name - it, will be known as Montana's Cookhouse Grill & Bar south of the bor der. Kelsey's owns about 70% of its 133 domestic restaurants with the rest oper ating as franchises. Canada's largest food services company, Cara, owns 61% of Kelsey's and 39% of Second Cup Ltd. After taking a beating in the hot American coffee bar market, Second Cup abandoned expansion efforts there. Sol-Cor grows with demand for solid surfacing products By Nancy Alexander Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate CLOSED Sunday March 17 to April 7,2001. Staff and management apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to re-opening to the public on Saturday April 7, SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER It wasn't long ago that the biggest decision a consumer had to make when choosing solid surfacing countertops for the kitchen was whether to opt for white or off-while. In short, selection was limited and pretty uninspiring. Today, companies such as Sol-Cor Products Inc. of Oakville, solid surfac ing specialists, are expanding their showrooms in an effort to showcase the remarkable range of product selection and applications now available to both residential and commercial customers. Mac Morrison, owner and founder of Sol-Cor, last year built a new, expanded facility on North Service Road with over 35,000 square feet of manufacturing and retail space. He credits his company's steady growth to the dramatic changes and improvements in product selection over the past 20 years. Solid surfacing is alOO percent acrylic product which can replicate the look and feel of natural stone. Best known under the trademark of duPont Corian, solid surfacing is a seamless, non-porous product that is known for its hygienic, moisture-resistant properties. "Next to stainless steel, it's the most hygienic surface available," says Craig Bernard, executive vice-president of Sol-Cor. "Bacteria can't grow on the sur face." It is also a renewable product, mean ing the colour or pattern penetrates the entire depth of the material, allowing scratches or cuts to simply be buffed out. Bernard says the beauty of the prod uct is that it has the durability of stone with the versatility of wood--it can be routed, bevelled, inlaid, heated and bent. And of course the big selling point today is that it comes in a mind-boggling array of colours and patterns (including white and off-white, naturally) which are a decorator's dream. From the most vibrant primary colours to sophisticated taupes, greens and faux granites, the looks and possi bilities are endless. Although solid surfacing represents the bulk of Sol-Cor's business, it also offers a selection of natural stone and marble, as well as Dupont's newest offering, Zodiac, a product made of quartz which unlike granite or marble, Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate 8 Navy Street, Oakville, ON, L6J 2Y5 www.oakvillemuseum.com THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF OAKVILLE QUOTATION FOR: SUPPLY & DELIVERY OF TWO (2) FOLLOW SPOTLIGHTS FOR THE OAKVILLE CENTRE FOR THE PER FORMING ARTS Q-19-2001 AND SUPPLY & DELIVERY OF ONI (1) NEW LIVE SOUND MIXING CONSOLE FOR THE OAKVILLE CENTRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS Q-23-2001 QUOTATION NUMBER: QUOTATION FOR: Dual-sink bathroom countertop QUOTATION NUMBER: SEALED QUOTATIONS on forms provided will be received by the Purchasing Depart ment, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, Ontario, L6J 5A6, until 12:00 NOON, local time on MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2001 mm fW r Specifications, quotation forms and quotation envelopes may be obtained from the Town of Oakville Purchasing Department, 1225 Trafalgar Road, Oakville, Ontario L6J 5A6; Telephone (905) 338-4197.
