CATHARINES, ONTARIO L2R 6Z4 July and will be bringing American students back with them In August. 1 was brought up in a city, but when anyone talked about a village I visualized a park.'Nowl live in a village and 1 think of the park as a restful, cool spot, to be enjoyed by all. Brighton can well remember when, a short time ago our beautiful park was a shambles; but now a new park is ready again to enjoy. A paved pathway joins two thoroughfares, and flower beds artistically arranged, enhance our new park. Older citizens recall the cenotaph being built; remember veterans gathering together to honour their comrades of two wars; remember silver cross mothers, bands and parades. Younger citizens remember the park as a place where young groups of Scouts,' C.G.I.T. and guides met on Nov. 11 to honour the dead. They also remember the park as a cool quiet spot to sit with school friends and compare notes in preparation for examinations or study the next day's assignment. Most citizens and summer tourists have enjoyed a lunch at a picnic table, a short rest before journeying on; a stroll on a cool evening, stopping to watch the bowlers enjoying an evening game. It is nice to see the "Now" generation again enjoying the park. Our young people are showing a great interest in their heritage and they along with all members of the community will make the park the focal point of our town and the pride of every citizen.
