Thanks also to doctors, nurses and staff at Trenton Memorial Hospital. Barbara Buck The convenor for education and cultural activities, Miss A.Richards, read a newspaper clipping about teacher power- a genuine concern in education. It stated that better communications must be established between school trustees and teachers to strengthen instead of weaken the true role of the teacher in education. Mrs. A.G.Cuistan gave a report of the highlights of the Leaders Conference which she recently attended in Waterloo. Mrs. D.Morrow read her report of the District Annuals held at Warkworth. An invitation was extended to all members to participate in making a massive patchwork quilt at the Science Centre in Toronto. New business discussed included the purchase of new supplies for the kitchen, a bus trip July 11, plans for a bus trip to Niagara in September, donations of $25 to the Erland Lee Homestead for maintan-ance and $12 to the Murray township recreation for field day June 23, and the repair of the cups and trophies won, Wooler's former champions and the making of a display case. Mrs. G.Lord conducted a quiz on old photos of people and places in the district. Mrs. Nelson read an amusing poem from the "Songs of the Lazy Farmer". Refreshments were served after repeating the Institute grace. The next meeting will be September 11 at 2 p.m. in the hall.
