continued from p.1 "It's the end of a dynasty for Dynasi," said Slav Nasevski, the youngest of Mila's daughters, adding former staff and family will raise a glass of champagne and celebrate afterwards behind closed doors. The existing restaurant opened in 1988. But it was in 1971 that Milly and her husband Walter purchased and ran the original restaurant on the site, Country Fare Restaurant. It also had a motel and gas bar. "It was very old. I think it was built in the late '40s or '50s," Milly said. "It was made of wood. The ceiling was too low for us to get a liquor licence." Her daughters have been encouraging their mother to retire for several years. Milly turns 69 in October. "We would ask our parents when they planned to retire, but they would always say not until they can't go anymore," Slav said. `"We've been talking about it for 10 to 15 years, but in the last six months or so she really thought about it." Milly has always worked long hours, seven days a week. She continued to do so even after Walter died three years ago. "I didn't want to scare them so I always told them I was fine, but from the bottom of my heart, I'm done," she said. Her daughters grew up working in the restaurant. In fact, Slav peeled potatoes and washed dishes when she was just five. They did their homework on the counters. They worked their Family-friendly restaurant set to close its doors on Sunday There is also a story behind the unusual name. For the restaurant's name, they slightly altered their last name of Dinevski. They changed it to "Dyn" and added a connecting letter "A" and then "Si," which stands for the five sisters, Slav, Dianna, Maryanna, Sonja and Kristina. Most customers learned about the closing about three weeks ago when a large sign went up in front of the restaurant. But staff was told before that. With 4,500 square feet of space and 208 seats Dynasi isn't like most cookie-cutter restaurants built today. At one time they used to stay open to 10 p.m. but over the years, as Oakville grew and more night-time restaurants and sports bars opened, they gradually cut back their hours and decided to offer just the food they have always been known for breakfast and lunches. "We basically have the same menu we've always had and our prices have always remained low," Dianna said. Initially, they planned to use the dining room in the new restaurant for other businesses, but decided to keep it as a banquet room. Over the years, meetings, weddings, retirement parties, sports functions even a movie shoot. In 1995, the restaurant was used for the shooting of an American film called Johnny and Clyde. `They changed the restaurant's name to `Pie Villa" and put a huge pie on the roof," Dianna said. "They had a big cream pie fight inside. "But we all have our own careers and families now so none of us have the time to run a restaurant," Slav said. "Everything has to end. Mom still has her health so she is ending it on her own terms so she can still say her goodbyes to everybody. "Mom has done everything. She's served customers. She's cooked. She's been the gardener. She's like City-TV . She's everywhere." A STEP BEYOND IN CARE Do you have: Salima Kassam Reg. Chiropodist · Foot/Arch Pain? · Ingrown Toenails? · Diabetes? · Swollen Ankles? · Corns, Calluses?
