Town seeks public donations for Mattamy cycling centre 1,500 sponsored seats available By Michael Gregory CANADIAN CHAMPION STAFF The Town is asking local residents ta reach into their pocket books and help raise $1 mil- lion in support of the new Mattamy National Cycling Centre. The Make it Happen fundraising committee has already raised $12.8 million for the Mil- ton velodrome, one of the three major facili- ties being built for the 2015 Pan Am/Parapan American Games in Toronto. The majority of the funds already raised were through private sector donations and account for 89 per cent-af the overaîl $14-million goal set by the committee. Individuals have the opportunity ta be part of sporting history by purchasing a spectator seat for $250 each, or by dedicating a virtual track plan k for $25 each. There are 1,500 sponsored seats available ta be purchased and each will have a permanent engraving. "For as little as $25, you cab mark your name on the velodrome and contribute to what will be a legacy community facility for years ta come,' said Milton Mayor Gord Krantz and honourary chair of the Make it Happen cam- paign. "I encourage you ta help spread the word about the local campaign with your friends, families, colleagues and neighbours.
