The annual event raises money for the Sick Kids' Foundation for research into paediatric liver disease. Orono peewee reps near the end of regular season by Vicki Haass The Orono Newcastle Funeral Home peewee reps are nearing the end of their regular season. In December, the team had a 1-2-2 record. The team squeaked out a 21 win over Newcastle and tied them 3-3. They also tied Omemee 2-2 and lost to the same team 2-0, as well as losing to Mariposa 4-2. Points in these games were earned by: Justin Badour (6g, 2a), Derek Knoblauch (4g), Zach Sinclair (1g), Spencer Jacobs (3a), Mark Brydson (3a), with single assists to Brian Fice and James Gough. At the end of November, the team attended the Port Colborne Golden Puck hockey tournament. Orono made it to the semi-finals after winning 6-2 against Merriton, 3-1 against Grimsby and tying Glanbrook 1-1. Earning points were: Knoblauch (4g, 2a), Badour (2g, 4a), Gough (2g, 3a), Kyle Cordes (2g), Adrian Jacobs (2a), and single assists to Sinclair, Matthew Haass, S. Jacobs, Brydson and Connor Clemens. In the semi-final game, a much bigger and more physical West Lincoln team won 3-1. Clemens scored Orono's lone goal short-handed. Outstand-ing in net, as always, was Garrett Kealy. In exhibition play, Orono met Newcastle and won 5-2 and the Durham Force, winning 7-2. On the score sheet were: Knoblauch (3g, 2a), Badour (3g, 1a), S. Jacobs (2g), Fice (1g, 1a), Cordes (1g ,1a), A. Jacobs (1g, 1a), Sinclair (1g), Gough (5a), Brydson (2a) and Clemens (1a). The team will play Friday at 9 pm in Orono and then finish their regular season play in Manvers Sunday at 5:30 pm.
