For one day, the students will experience the world of work as they participate in the annual Take Our Kids to Work DayTM day on Wednesday, November 4, 1998. Take Our Kids to Work DayM is a Canada-wide pro- gram that enables Grade 9 students to go to work with a parent, relative, neighbour or volunteer host for a day. It provides a direct link between classroom learning and real world experience and gives students the opportunity to recognize the importance of education in securing a job. "Both students and their parents benefit from their participation in this pro- gram," says Richard Wndolf, Co-ordinator of Co-operative Education, -Guidance and Partnerships for Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. "It gives the student the opportunity to learn more about their parents' work experience, and provides them with insight on some of the skills and education they may need in the future. For the parents, this day provides a chance to strengthen the bond between parent and child and it encourages a family discussion about work and career planning." Schools and students are in the midst of preparing for the day, holding discussions on career planning and work IT P-AYS TO ADVERTISE IN THE ORONO WEEKLY TIMES 983-5301 please call Doug or Cathy at 983-8276.
