February 15, more than 30 guests of the Trllliurn Morgan Horse Farrn gathered at the New Dutch Oven Restaurant in Orono to pay tribute to a speclal individual. Hosts Bob and Cathy Sampson, owners of the Orono based Trlllium Morgan Horse Farm, were p1leased to present the farm's 1997 Trlllium Fellowshiip Award to Mr. Geoff Hawkins of Pickering., The Trillllum Fellowshlp Award was established lu 1996 to recognize speclal individuals who have been generous iu their support of the farm, îts activities and horses. This award acknowl- ed ges extraordinary deeds of animal husbandry, farrn involvernent and unsoliclted assistance in Urne of need. Mr. Hawkins, a, former jockey who lmrrngrated from England several years ago, began a friendship with the Sarnpsons and their horses twenty years ago. Hawkns has been a constant and wel- corne volunteer at the farm ever since. -He was joined at the annual award dinner by his wife I.nda and daughter Sarah. DurIng the celebration, "in appreclatton" awards were also presented to several indî- viduals who were being rec- ognlzed for their efforts in support of the farrn's rnany public functlons.
