It Wsanticipated that this service would address issues regarding the provision of equipment for clarington residents especially; those ineligible for funding under the guidelines of the Assistive Devices Program of the inistry of Health; those who lack the financial resources ta contribute their portion of the cost of a device under that Program; or those who physical condition warrants the need for a longer term boan than is currently allowed existing comniunity services. As well, the prograin would provide a way for people ta dispose of equipment, that is no longer appropriate or needed, by donating it. This process will allow the recycling of that equipment in an environmentally and people friendly way. As an additional benefit it should provide some cost savings for our health care system., At the present time the steering committee is seeking a volunteer wha would be interested in assisting in the development and implementation of program. This will require a time committment, good communication and organizational skills and some computer knowledge. As well, volunteers will be needed who would be interested in manning the equipment storage and distribution centre or helping out with other aspects of the program once it's operationai. Please caîl Fran Harsell at Red Cross 723-2933 or Roxy Barnes at Community Care 623-2261 if you would like ta volunteer or wish further information. Ladies' Fellowship Newtonvile Pastoral Charge The February meeting of the Ladies' Fellowship took place at the home of Lorraine Black. The theme of the meeting was "love". Lorraine Black led us in devotions. She began by quating from Dr. James Dobson's 1995 Famnily Builders calendar. The scripture reading was taken from Ephesianis 4:1 - 12. Two short s tories of haw the power of love.changed lives was read from the book Chicken Soup FormTe Sou]. Jean Kimbaîl told us about the work of Operation Blessing in Oshawa. We agreed that for the next two weeks we would appeal ta tie people of the dlree churches on the Pastoral Charge ta dlean out closets and make winter clothing, sleeping bags and blankets, that they were no longer using, available for use by Operation Blessing. It was also agreed ta conti nue collecting Canadian Tire coupons ta augment any items we might be short an. The work of the ",Oshawa Community Ministry Centre" also known as Gate 3:16 was also brought ta aur attention. Parkview Quilters Club donate $500.00 ta Community Care Once again the Parkview Quilters Club, parkview Apts., Newcastle, have given a generous donation of $500.0 to the Clarington Community Care Home Support Program. Financial support from the Parkview Quilters and other groups like them is vital to the continuation of services and programs provided, by Community Carc. Staff and Local Advisory Committee members -extend'a sincere thank you ta al members of the Parkview Quilters Club for their ongoing support. We are grateful to those who work here providing a helping hand to those in need.- This is one example of lxow our Mission & Service dollars are spent locally. We are reminded that there is constant need for our M&S money and that we should give generously. We enjoyed a video on the life and work of the late Dr. Robert McClure, a former Moderator of The United Church of Canada. He showed us again how love changes lives and we were "Maie- Female Communication" which will be led by David and Lorraine Black. Everyone is welcome - men and women. Bring along your favourite dish and jomn us for a time of fellowship and growing together. The War Amps says: Ifs fimne for...
