The best-of-five series gainei was played on Orono ice Friday, February 4. Farnil y Auto won the game by a 2-0 margin. Sbaring in the shut-out was the ever-consistent goaltending tandem of Scott Poole and Ryan Leddy. Orono grabbed an early lead less than 2 minutes m t te contest wben Winger Brandon Caruana was sent in alone by centre Tyler Robinson at 8:51. Starting the play was Winger Seff Thompson. Farnily Auto gol the insurance marker at 6:57 of the final period when winger Matt McGlynn set-up an uncovered Ryan Tresise in front of t.he net. Final shots on goal favoured Orono 17 to 15. Game 2 was, played in Woodvile Saturday, February 5 with Family Auto squeaking out a 3-2 victory. Orono skated well in the firsi two periods outscoring Woodville 3-0 wbile outshooting them 13-1! In less than a minute span in the second period Orono got 2 goals from captain Bob Witheridge and winger Brandon Caruana! Picking up assists on the scoring Dlays were Tyler Robinson,,Pat OHalloran, Seff Tbompson, and Matt McGlynn. The Ihird goal, a shorthanded effort by Witheridge was also the eventual winning goal as Woodviile carne on to score 2 of their own in the tbird frarne. Wednesday, January 19 the Kinsmen were in Orono and battled our Pine Ridge boys to a 3-3 tie. Andrew Beacock scored fist for Orono assisted by Chris Bouley; Brandon Hilîs scored unassisted in the second period to give Pine Ridge a two goal lead. Our Orono boys let up in the third period bowever, allowing the Kinsmen three unanswered goals. Brandon Huis scored bis second goal assisted by Andrew in the dying seconds of the game to belp us hold on 10 the tie. Pizza Pizza visiled Orono Wednesday, Sanuary 26 for an exhibition gaine. After playing a scoreless first period Pizza Pizza ways contini On Thursday, February 3rd J&M Custom faced off against Shoppers Drug Mart at Bowmanville. Shoppers opened the scoring early in the lst period when they managed to get one past Ian Knox (14) in net for J&M. Justin Caruana (4) was robbed midway through the period. The period ended 1-0 for came on strong to steal a 5-2 victory over Pine Ridge. Kyle Moore scored unassisted and Andrew Beacock scored assisted by Matt Reid. On Thursday, January 27 Pine Ridge was in Bowmanville to play T-Mac Insulation. Orono played a strong gaine from start to finish in this match wo capture a 5-1 win froin T-Mac. Pine Ride scorers were: Matt Gregg from Jake Bonnetta; Kyle Moore, unassisted; Matt Reid, unassisted; Andrew Beacock from Corey Tufts and Dan Tresise; and Brandon Huis scoring unassisted. Carnation Florists were in Orono Wednesday, February 2 wo play our Pine Ridge boys. Orono was really up for this match and with a fine performance froin goaltender Nicky Lucyk, skated to a 7-0 shut out victory over their opposition. Another key factor in this match was Orono playing a penalty free gamne. The first for sometime now!!!
