Gleason) -a light-hearted comedy set in the ý-fifties. Both the cast and the crew are te be congratulated for their months' et hard work and dedicated rehearsing. Directer Ms. Wilson and assistant directors, Ms. Kelly and Mr. Kerr are te be heartily thanked for their heurs of excellent coaching and commitment. The Ottawa Experience by Kelly O'Neill The grade seven students at The Pines went'te Ottawa from Tuesday, May 25 te Fniday, May 28. The trip was educational, interesting and fun! Some et the places we visited were: The Parliam ent Buildings, the Supreme Court, the Mint and many museums. We were very busy! For two night we stayed at Carleton University in Ottawa and on Thursday we left fer Kingston where we stayed overnight at Queen's University. We toured Old Fort Henry, Celebrity Sports and other interesting places. By Friday, we were starting te slow down and it was a much more, tired group et students who disembarked te The Pines when we returned! We all enjoyed ourselves and would like te thank the parent volunteers and the teachers for the extra-special care and long heurs which they endured te make sure that we had both an educational and an enjoyable time! Three Pitch Basebali by Trevor Richards Everyone had a great tîme at the Mixed Three Pitch Basebal Tournament! The Pines players did exceptionally well with the Senior Team winning the geld medal and the Junior Team winning the Silver medal! The grade eight Senior team defeated the following teams: North Hope, B.S.P.S., M.J. Hobbs, Dr. Hawkins. The Pines, defeated B.S.P.S. 4-3 in a very exciting championship game. The-coach Mr. McKelvey was very proud et his team's ýkilI and sportsmanship. The grade seven Junior team played well losing a close ganie to M.J. Hobbs 4-2 h tî championshij ý -g. k - the coach, was very proud ef al ef his players. Coach Mr. McKelvey. Track and Field by Trevor Richards On Tuesday, June 2, there was approximately ninety-four percent of The- Pin-es population participating in the track and field day. Everyone had a great lime and four new records were set! Jenny Ells tied her sister's record in the 1500 m race: Vicky Robbins broke the bail throw record and Scott MacDonald broke both the bail throw and the 200 m race. Wdll donc! Natural Habitat This week The Pines students began planting their natural habitat situated in the field by the basketball court. Paîls of water were lugged te water the beautiful flowerîng crabs, mountain ash, locust, forsythia and. evergreens which had been planted earlier. mhe students mfarked off pa1hs and transplanted perennials generously donated by parents, friends and staff. Any more donations wouîd be gratefully appreciated! Plans abound for bird feeders and ba1hs in order te make this a truc "natural habitat"! Ms. Calcy, Mrs. Gibson and their crew are te bc congratulated on a blooming beginning! Places to Go "Lost and Found" exhibit to be field at Visual Arts Centre In recognition of United Nations World Environment Week, the Visual Arts Centre is pleased to presenit an exhibition of artwork produced from found objects and recycled materials. Elementary school students have been invited to participate in the Upstairs Gallery Show, where pieces may be entered on a first- comne basis, up to approximately 100 works.1 The Mill Gallery will feature an exhibition of artists' work based upon the related theme of rethinking the environment. 'Me Exhibit will continue until June 12. The new long-term care system it describes will provide services for adults with physical disabilities; elderly persons in need of long-tern care and community support services; and people of any age who require health services at home or at school. The policy framework empowers communities, through their District Health Councils, te plan for local long term care system change.
