12-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesay, June 26, 1991 Scouts present Annual Swim Up' WinnérJ qrthc ikt Rk Kuueo event Monday, May 27, 1991 was the night the Ist Orono Scouting Organization was proud to present ils Annual Swim Up. Offîciating the evening was the Chairman of our Group Commnittee, Mr. Donald Scott. After each group recited their promise, Diane Lofgren had 10 say goodbye t0 six of the Busy Beavers, who, I'm sure will continue to "Love God and help take care of the world." Ian Borremans, Peter Etmanskie, Johnny Halick, Jason Parker , Justin Standeven and Chris Weeks left the safety of the Beaver Colony 10 swim into a group of Wolf Cubs. Leaders Lynn Finlay, Gord Werry and Terry Weeks, along with the rest of the pack welcomed the newcomners with their traditional Grand Howl. They too, had to send some of their group onto the next stage of Scouting. Having fmnished the Cub Programmne, Wayne Werry, Jeremy Weeks, Greg Finlay, John Hendry, Tim Hegarty and Anthony DiBartolomeo promise tè continue 10 serve God, the Queen and so a good turn. They were then greeted by a very rousing three cheers lead by Shane Gylytiuk and aided by Marg Bradley, Tim Bradley and Glen Barnard, along with a really enthusiastic group of Scouts. Our local Heather Rebekah Lodge recognizes the bard work these boys put into having fun by awarding one Scout and one Cub, an annual trophy. Representing the Lodge, Darlene Hardy was on hand to presenit Cub of the Year Timi Hegarty and Scout of the Year Johin Richardson with their well deserved honours. A plaque also decorates the wall in the United Church for ail to see present and past achievers. On behaîf of the Group Committee I wish 10 take this opportunity to thank those leaders and parent helpers who have taken s0 many hours of their free time and devoted it t0 our sons.
