The senior concert and stage bands, are going on tour! On Wednesday, December 12, we will be -putting on performances for about a hlaf of the feeder public schools in the area. On December 10 the itermediate stage band will visit the others. Rumour bas it that the streets of BQwmanville will bc lined by people just waiting to hear the Senior Stage Band at 'the Santa Claus Parade! Another rumour, mmnd you, states that they're really there to see Sauta and the stage b aud is just an added bonus, but we, at Clarke know otherwise. Dont forget the annual Christmas Dessert Concert, December l3th in the Clarke Gymnasium. As always the warm, glowy comfort of our Christmasy atmosphere; the tasty, liomemade dessert and well esablished bauds will be there and so should you! Girls Basketball- Midget The midget girls basketball teamn have had a strong season this year led by Miss Kemp. Strong performances have been showvn by all' and mucli promise was displayed by this youug team. The chain of excellence in the sport area of Clarke Higli School teams looks as if there is no breaking it as the participation and -skills at a max. Junior Great improvement was shown by this extra young teamn throughout the season. With over haif of this teami beiîng only midget age and the rest, first year players, the junior team played extremely liard against the much larger teams. Excellent performance was displayed by Leslie (Lester) Westheuser as she barely sat off through most of the season. Congratulations to ail the girls and Mrs. Knight for havîng shown an amazing improvement. Good Luck i a promising future. Senior The adrenaline is pumping and excitement thriving as the Senior Girls prepare for COS SA hoping to stamp over the Campbellford Gia.nts. Althougli heiglit is not the Raiders strongest point their speed and skill is going to aid themn to their goal-to compete in OFSAA. 'Mis promising goal is what helps the girls through liard work and aching muscles. Though the girls have to work extremely liard it lias paid off this year with galned skill and lots of fun. The public are welcome to attend the gaines and cheer this amazing team on this Friday after school. Good Luck girls in COSSA and your goal to OFSAA! School Reach The school reach teams from Clarke have a very bright future ahead of them. Both teams recently faired very well at a tournament held in Port Hope. School reach teamn are ones that compete in academnic knowledge covering various topîcs such as Geography, History, General Knowledge, Literature, Math, etc. Four members of each teamn compete against each other. Clarke plays against Bowmanville, Courtice and O'Neill higli schools in league play. Twice a year Clarke competes against schools fromn Port Hope, Campbellford, Cobourg West and Cobourg East as well. The intermediate teamn recently went undefeated in a tournament involving the 8 teams and the senior team rccorded a 3-1 record to finish in second place. League play starts November 7 and continues through to April with the winning tearns advancing to the playoffs. If the team continues to win they can advance to the Ontario playoffs. The Ontario champion then plays for the Canadian championship and that winner competes against the best in the U.S. Tearu members for, the intermediate include Mike Smith, Richard Jenkins, Brett Rogers, Jernnifer Easton, Aaron Staples and Jason Twardowski. The senior teamn includes Ken Verwoert, Carl Brown, Andy Rorabeck, Dan Smith, Kristian Dart, Cameron Esler, Cindy Tamblyn and Denise Bugden.
