Durham Regional Police said the money was taken sometime last Monday night from the Trulîs Road Free Methodist Church in Courtice. Police said the $10,000 in cash and cheques is collection plate money. The VCR was stolen sometime between Sunday night and Tuesday morning from the Alliance Church at 650 Ritson Road North in Oshawa. Cab service for disabled Granting four taxi plates to a new company to operate a service aimed at the elderly and handicapped is unfair, say other cab owners. Oshawa counicillors on the fare protection committee voted last week to give four new taxi plates to Access Taxi, to begin a new service in the city. Barry Doucette, a spokesman for Access Taxi, said they want to lease the $38,000 vehicles and must also be alowed to pick up regular fares. "The disabled and the elderly will be our primary focus. " Doucette said. $3.2 million to fight drugs The federal government will spend up to $3.2 million to help tenants' groups fight drug abuse and crime in public housing pro- jects, Housing Minister Alan Red- way said last week.
