This building is recommended for designation under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act for the following architectural reasons: 1. It is an example of the Classical Revival style - a style which is very rare in this area. Its imposing rec- tangular shape, hipped roof and the plasters are all characteristics of the style. 2. The original masonry is intact and executed in the common bond pattern. 3. The porch, although probably not the original, is most distinctive and shows the influence of the more fanciful exterior ornamentation of the later l9th Century. 4. It retains the stained glass of the front doors and the transom light above - features which, again, most likely date from the later l9th cen- tury, but are well preserved and worthy of note. 5.
