CANADA LIVES BETTER WITH DOMINION TEXTILE COMPANY LIMITED YEAR BOOK The year is gone, we close the book again, It was the same old story, joy and pain; Bright days of - sunshine, happiness and cheer, So closely followed by dark days of fear; Some pleasant pastures basking in the sun, A long hard race that we were called to run; Some old friends gone to that vast unknown vale, Some new ones found along life's winding trail; A far-off goal, scarce reached, only to find That we had left some cherished thing behind; So close the book, it has been badly torn, Its pages soiled, mistreated, badly Then take the new book God has given you And keep its pages clean and bright and true. --Jim Bell. Today it is well down the line and there are hopes that it will not be too many years before it is as obsolete as smallpox and other conquered diseases. One reason for the decrease is the intensive chest x-ray campaigns which help to discover the disease before it becomes too firmly established in a person. In addition to this, new treatment methods have made it possible to cure many of the cases that, a few years ago, would have been conisdered incurable. Most people enjoy economy -- there's one simple one which any good cook can practice. When vegetables are boiled, it is wise to use the minimum amount of water in order to preserve the minerals and vitamins which might be drawn out by the cooking water. Then, if there is any liquid left when the vegetables are boiled, use it in soups, gravy or vegetable juices -- it will be a rich source of those missing vitamins and minerals.
