She passed away peacefully at Providence Care in Kingston, Ontario on May 19, 2015. Helen and her dear husband George Frederick Martin were married for 59 years. They enjoyed most of their married lives in Oakville, Ontario, and for over 30 years spent their summers at their beloved Rebecca Lake. George died in 2004, and Helen moved to Kingston in 2007. Community service was a large part of Helen's life. She was a devoted volunteer at St. John's United Church, Oakville, the Oakville Skating Club, and the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Her skills at the sewing machine and with the knitting needles produced many costumes for figure skating shows, and baby bonnets for newborns. Helen is survived by her son Scott (Margaret), daughter Kathy Bally (Dennis), and predeceased by daughter Susan. She will be remembered with love by all, including her four grandchildren, Heather (Ben), Richard, Leah and Lauren, five great-grandchildren, three nieces and two nephews. Sydenham 5 at Providence Manor has been home for Helen since 2007, where she was always treated with great care and respect. Many thanks to all the staff involved in Helen's care over the years. In keeping with Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be a family celebration of her life at a later date.
